PRINCETON, TEXAS
This project was one part branding one part municipal center. Princeton, Texas is a small, but quickly growing, suburb on the northern outskirts of the DFW metroplex. Our first task was to analyze the context and history of the area. We took a loose survey from town hall meetings and discussions with various residents to find out why people live in Princeton and what they hoped the city would look like in the coming years. The information gleaned from this process helped establish the tone for the building and honed our project focus.
We thoroughly researched the history of north Texas and more specifically Princeton. We discovered how and why Princeton, Texas became a city and its relationship to the surrounding area. We collocated this information into a large timeline and presented our findings to city officials and citizens alike. After the research portion of the project was complete we used what we learned to inform the design of a new city Municipal Center, a single building to house the Council Chambers, city government, and Princeton police department.
