THE CONDUIT: A OPEN SOURCE UTOPIA

The Conduit is an interface where users can create physical manifestations of a virtual proposal. The physical creations are developed inside a sequestered area of space through a device called the Container. Each user, or player, is given a Cloner Probe to act a surrogate for their physical presence. Probes are equipped sophisticated optics, sensors, and a variety of terraforming tools. Zones inside the Container can be manipulated to produce a digital currency—"D's". Players can earn D's by increasing a zone's value based on nine integers: aesthetics, cleanliness, landscape, popularity, accessibility, habitability, environmental awareness, infrastructure, and structural stability. D's can used to purchase time on the Cloner Crane. The Crane is massive 3D printer capable of producing large structures in mere hours. The container is a malleable and moveable structure. As zones increase in value the container will "relinquish" them into the world, removing them from the conduit. Players are given incentive to work on areas near the Containers periphery since zones closest to the Conduit's edge are worth more D's. Once a year the Conduit is removed from the digital domain. During this "Pause" the Container opens and players are allowed to physically enter the Conduit and freely explore their creations. The ultimate goal of the Open Source Utopia is to reduce itself to a singularity, producing physical contributions through a unsupervised digital portal.
